Flow Meter Reading Builder

Enter each month's total consumption and the final meter reading. The app spreads every month across its days — weekdays higher, weekends low — and builds the full daily meter reading history.

1. Your numbers

Weekdays (Mon–Fri) relative level
Weekends (Sat–Sun) relative level

These two bands set the weekday-vs-weekend shape only. The actual daily m³ is scaled so each month adds up to the total you enter below.

2. Monthly totals (m³)

One figure per month — the water consumed that month. Prefilled from the report; edit any value.

How it works

  1. You enter each month's total consumption and the final meter reading.
  2. Inside each month the app gives every day a random weight — weekdays higher, Saturday and Sunday low — then scales those weights so the days add up to exactly that month's total.
  3. The opening reading is the final reading minus every month's total, so the meter never starts at zero. Day by day the readings climb by each day's use and land exactly on your final reading.
  4. New random pattern reshuffles the daily split only; the monthly totals and the final reading never change. What you see is exactly what goes into the Excel file.

Formulas used

① Day weight (sets the weekday-vs-weekend shape)

Weight = Lower + Random × (Upper − Lower)

Random is between 0 and 1. Mon–Fri use the weekday band; Sat–Sun the weekend band.

② Daily use (scaled so the month hits its total)

Daily use = Month total × (day weight ÷ sum of that month's weights)

③ Meter reading

Reading (day) = Reading (previous day) + Daily use Opening = Final reading − Sum of all monthly totals
